Additionally, we cut our tiles to follow the pattern so you almost always get a full flower, focal, leaf, or design on every piece. This means that you will be able to use EVERY tile in your art!

You'll notice that all of ManicForMosaics tile descriptions feature the term "broken" in the name. Actually, calling our tiles "broken" is not entirely accurate. Every one of our wonderful tiles is HANDCUT from china with an artist's eye toward preserving the gorgeous patterns.

ManicForMosaic tiles are cut by hand from china plates & very occasionally a bowl or platter. As such, they MAY have some utensil scratches &/or staining &/or loss of color. We strive to mention these in the description of the tile.

Often our tiles are cut from rare antique or vintage plates so the quantity is limited to what we have in inventory.

Our tiles are not mixed together (with the exception of "grab bags"), even if they are cut from the same plate. We sort the different design elements of the cut plates into separate groups of tiles. What that means is that you will be assured that they tiles you get are ONLY the tiles you want!

Let us explain some of the terms we use when describing our tiles:

White - china that is PURE WHITE in color.

Off-white - china that is not quite PURE WHITE in color

Ecru - china that is darker than off-white, almost yellow in color

Rim tiles - tiles that have the rim, or finished edge, of the plate intact.

Non-rim tiles - tiles wehere the finished edge of the plate had been removed.

Rim - the outside edge of a plate.

Edge - the area just inside the rim of a plate.

Crazing - fine crackling over the surface of a plate.

Sizes given are measured at the rim (for rim tiles) OR at the widest part (for non-rim tiles). Handcut tiles will vary in size and the measurements given are an average size of the majority of the tiles in each bag. Each bag may contain tiles that are larger and tiles that are smaller than the measurements stated in the description. Mosaic tiles cut from china have sharp edges & the bags of tiles may contain shards. Please use caution when handling tiles!
